   I use a Sherwood Wisdom in a console together with a compass tied to a retainer, but I don’t think I’ll ever buy another console-type dive computer. Having the depth and compass readings always available on the wrist is just far more convenient. I am also always concerned about the console computer banging against tanks and the deck or the ground and getting damaged or crushed. My Wisdom is connected to the high pressure host with a quick release, but since you want to avoid water getting into the high pressure hose or the computer, the QL seems to introduce more problems then it solves. Air integrated computers can provide a very good estimate of your remaining bottom time, given your current air consumption rate, tank pressure and depth. In theory this is very good, but in practice there are other more important limiting factors to the bottom times of your dives, so this may be a lot less useful as it appears. On the other hand, my Wisdom can give me audible warnings when the tank pressure reaches certain levels (e.g. half, near empty, etc.) This is good, and I expect the Cobalt to be able to do this. In any case, if you are used to making a dive plan and check your pressure gauge regularly, all these may be unnecessary. My wife uses a Mares Nemo Wide, which does multi-gas, but I can’t imagine us recreational divers to ever need this feature. You are probably right that at this price point, the Cobalt is very attractive. I certainly appreciate its display and the UI, and I have no doubt that a lot of folks would be very happy with it. However, for about the same price, there are a few other highly desirable dive computers, e.g. the Liquivision X1.
