Computer PIC interface?
Hello
I am working on a project with microcontrollers, I have 6 sets of 5 bits BCD and 1 set of 11 bits BCD which are changing constantly, I want to take these bits and transfer them into PC and monitor it.
What is the cheapest/ easiest method to use to transfer those BCD sets?

Use a Hardware UART if available in your uC and transfer via RS232 to PC. Hyperterminal on PC logs incomming data stream. You will have to convert your data to ASCII character codes before transmitting. In which case you convert each BCD character to ASCII OR you transmit ASCII char codes for 1 & 0 and transmit each bit in the BCD code your choice.
Most PC's will accept RS232 signals directly from a uC running with a 5 volt Vcc. Although RS232 is pretty tolerant, you may have issues with low powered devices not being able to generate adequate voltage levels for RS232 in which case you will need to add a RS232 driver like the MAX232.
Also newer PC's and Lap tops may not have an RS232 port in which case you will need a RS232/USB adapter for $15 to $20.

how to convert a number from BCD system to the 7-display system( with gates for e.x number 8)?
it's a project that i've been ask to do but i have some dificulty thou..
Well, the best way to do it is to just get a BCD to 7 segment decoder IC, such as the HEF4511 from Philips. If you want to do it using discrete logic gates (or are just curious how it works) see page 3 in the data sheet below for an internal logic diagram of the IC.
